10-time X Games Gold Medalist and 4-time US Olympian, Lindsey Jacobellis, Hosts Only All-Women’s Snowboarding Event, Serves as Final Qualifier for USASA National Championships
Big Bear, CA (January 23, 2020) – Marking 14 years of Super Girl Pro events, ASA Entertainment announced today the return of the Nissan Super Girl Snow Pro: February 22-23, 2020. The event – the only all-women’s snowboarding competition in the world – will take place at Bear Mountain in Big Bear, CA. Admission is free.
The event will serve as a showcase for the best of women’s snowboarding in a contest completely designed by the riders, including top-level snowboardcross (SBX) and Big Air competitions. The field of pros will include many of the top-ranked snowboarders in the world, including 10-time X Games Gold Medalist, Lindsey Jacobellis, and her U.S. Olympic teammates Meghan Tierney and Faye Gulini.
Designed not only to showcase the best female snowboarders on the planet, the event also serves as a developmental contest to help encourage, nurture, and mentor the next generation of aspiring female snowboarding pros. More than 100 top amateurs will compete alongside their heroes. New this year, the event will be the final qualifier into the USASA National Championships.
“This is an event that I am extremely passionate about,” said 4-time U.S. Olympian, Lindsey Jacobellis. “It’s incredibly important to lay the foundation for the future of women’s snowboarding, and this event does an amazing job of empowering women and putting pros and amateurs together in a unique environment so we can pass along our experiences to the next generation.”
“It’s really exciting to bring the Super Girl Snow Pro back to Bear Mountain, especially given their great legacy in snowboarding,” said Rick Bratman, CEO of ASA Entertainment, the event’s production company. “We’re grateful to our partners at Nissan, the U.S. Air Force, Paul Mitchell and Visit Big Bear for continuing to support women through this important empowerment platform.”
In addition to the high-level snowboarding competition, the event’s Festival Village features live concerts, female DJs, panel discussions, autographs, giveaways, sponsor booths, and more – all free and open to the public. The complete entertainment and music lineup in the Festival Village will be announced soon.
The event, which will run on Saturday, February 22, and Sunday, February 23, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., supports sustainability efforts through the Southern California Mountains Foundation and breast cancer prevention through Boarding for Breast Cancer.
Nissan, in conjunction with the California Nissan Dealers, has increased its participation in 2020 with the goal to help foster equality and inclusion for women as part of a multi-year commitment to becoming the event’s Title Partner. Throughout the weekend-long competition, Nissan will showcase highlights from its current model year line-up including the restyled, sporty, all-new 2020 Sentra.
“Nissan and its California Dealers are proud to be the exclusive Title Partner of the Super Girl Pro Series of snow and surf events in California,” said Shawn Mirabal, regional vice president, Nissan North America. “Being the Title Partner really provides our company the opportunity to play an important role in the support and celebration of female strength, independence and empowerment through action sports.”
This is the first event of the 2020 Super Girl Pro Series, the industry’s only large-scale, all-female action sports competition series. Developed as a celebration of female empowerment 14 years ago, the Super Girl Pro Series provides opportunities for women to be front and center in areas of sports, entertainment, education, business, and popular culture where women are traditionally underrepresented. The four annual Super Girl events bring together more than 300 top female athletes who come from around the globe to compete.
