NISSAN SUPERGIRL SNOW PRO – WORLD’S ONLY ALL-FEMALE SNOWBOARDING COMPETITION – WRAPPED TWO DAYS OF CONTESTS, CONCERTS AND MENTORSHIP WITH HIGH-FLYING BIG AIR AT BEAR MOUNTAIN
Big Bear, CA (March 10, 2019) – ASA Entertainment wrapped two days of action-packed snowboarding contests and live music concerts at the Nissan Supergirl Snow Pro at Bear Mountain Resort this weekend. Hosted by 4-time Olympian and 10-time X-Games Gold Medalist, Lindsey Jacobellis, the event showcased many other Olympians, including Faye Gulini, Meghan Tierney, Silvia Mittermuller, Carla Somaini and Sandra Hillen. Top amateurs competed alongside the pros in a one-of-a-kind pro-am format that included team competitions, pairing the pros with amateur riders as young as eight years old.
Day one of Supergirl Snow Pro featured the snowboardcross (SBX) competition on a custom-built pro-level SBX course, created to showcase elite talent, while also providing a platform for young competitors to learn from their heroes. In addition to competing and claiming first place, Jacobellis spent much of the event mentoring the next generation of up-and-coming athletes.
“I’m really happy that this event was able to come back to Bear Mountain, and it’s a thrill to take home the winner’s Nissan Supergirl cape,” said Jacobellis, who worked closely with ASA Entertainment on designing the event. “The course was the perfect speed for all ages and to have the pros mentoring the young riders, is just a wonderful experience for all.”
The podium for Saturday’s pro boardercross contest included powerhouses Lindsey Jacobellis (1st place), Faye Gulini (2nd place), Anna Miller (3rd Place) and Meghan Tierney (4th place).
“It’s so great to be able to give back to the sport that has given me so much”, said Jacobellis, the most decorated woman in boardercross history. “I love being able to race with my friends and US Teammates (Gulini & Tierney) as we’re constantly pushing each other and just trying to pave the way for the next generation of girls in this sport.”
Supported by both the USSA and the USASA, today’s event featured high-flying Big Air competition with an AM jam session and professional contest in an innovative head-to-head bracket style format. Lia-Mara Bosch from Switzerland took first in Big Air with a smooth backside 720.
“What a super experience to be in an all-women’s contest, and then to win it was amazing,” says Bosch from Switzerland. “I really liked the event format and was so impressed with the young ones riding.”
