Event focused on both Mentorship and Elite Competition to be Hosted by 10-time X Games Gold Medalist and 4-time US Olympian, Lindsey Jacobellis
Melbourne, FL (February 6, 2019) – Marking thirteen years of Supergirl Pro events, ASA Entertainment announced today the return of the Supergirl Snow Pro: March 9-10, 2019, with Nissan added as the event’s new Title Sponsor. The Nissan Supergirl Snow Pro, which is the only all-women’s snowboarding competition in the world, will take place at Bear Mountain in Big Bear, CA. Admission is free.
The event will serve as a showcase for the best of women’s snowboarding in a contest completely designed by the riders, including top-level snowboardcross (SBX) and Big Air competitions. The field of pros will include many of the top-ranked snowboarders in the world, including 10-time X Games Gold Medalist, Lindsey Jacobellis, and her US Olympic teammates Meghan Tierney and Faye Gulini.
The event was designed not only to showcase the best female snowboarders on the planet, but also to serve as a developmental contest to help scout, encourage, nurture, and mentor the next generation of aspiring female snowboarding pros. More than 100 top amateurs will be competing alongside their heroes.
“This is an event that I am extremely passionate about,” said 4-time US Olympian, Lindsey Jacobellis. “It’s incredibly important to lay the foundation for the future of women’s snowboarding, and this event does an amazing job of empowering women and putting pros and amateurs together in a unique environment so that we can pass along our experiences to the next generation.”
“We’re thrilled to keep the Snow Pro in Southern California,” said Rick Bratman, CEO of ASA Entertainment, the event’s production company. “We’re especially excited to host the event at Bear Mountain, given their great legacy in snowboarding from the very beginnings of the sport. We’re also grateful to our partners at Nissan, Warner Bros Consumer Products and the Big Bear Visitors Bureau for continuing to support women through this important platform.”
Nissan, in conjunction with the California Nissan Dealers, has increased its participation in 2019 with the goal to help foster equality and inclusion for women as part of a multi-year commitment to becoming the event’s Title Partner. Throughout the weekend-long competition, Nissan will showcase highlights from its 2019 model year line-up, including a project vehicle dubbed the KICKS Sound Machine, a tricked out, mobile DJ vehicle, with performances from female DJ’s.
“Nissan is proud to become the exclusive automotive sponsor of the Supergirl Pro Series of snow and surf events in California,” said Kevin Wagstaff, regional vice president, Nissan North America. “With this year’s addition of the title sponsorship at the Supergirl Snow Pro, our company has the opportunity to play an important role in the support and celebration of female empowerment, independence and strength through action sports.”
In addition to the high-level snowboarding competition, the event’s Festival Village features live concerts, female DJs, workshops, autographs, giveaways, sponsor booths, and more – all free and open to the public. The complete entertainment and music lineup in the Festival Village will be announced soon.
The event, which will run on Saturday, March 9, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday, March 10, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., supports sustainability efforts through the Southern California Mountains Foundation and breast cancer prevention through Boarding For Breast Cancer.
This is the first event of the 2019 Supergirl Pro Series, the industry’s only large-scale, all-female action sports competition series. Developed as a celebration of female empowerment 13 years ago, the Supergirl Pro Series provides opportunities for women to be front and center in areas of sports, entertainment, education, business, and popular culture where women are traditionally underrepresented. The annual events bring more than 300 top female athletes who come from around the globe to compete.
