Paul Mitchell Supergirl Pro Wraps Day 2, Heads into Saturday’s Finals

Final Field Narrowed to 12, Including Courtney Conlogue, Malia Manuel, Laura Enever, Sage Erickson & Rebecca Woods

OCEANSIDE, CA (August 10, 2012)— Day two of the Paul Mitchell Supergirl Pro — the largest all-women’s surf contest in the world — came to an exciting close Friday, further narrowing the field from 48 to 12 coveted spots heading into Saturday’s finals. The Paul Mitchell Supergirl Pro is the only ASP 6-Star event in North America.

Courtney Conlogue (Santa Ana, CA) once again dominated the competition, posting a phenomenal score of 17.46 in her Round 24 heat. The talented Californian also netted the day’s highest single wave score of a near-perfect 9.70 out of 10 with an impressive frontside air and took the top spot heading into the finals.

“It was a tricky heat and there was a lot of potential,” said Rebecca Woods, surfer with today’s second best score. “All the girls are young and out there to win, but it was nice to get some lefts out there. I was carrying a Round of 48 result and moving in to the Round of 12, it feels good to get through.”

The contest finals, hosted at the Oceanside Pier, feature a world class field of 12 including 8 surfers from the WCT. The event runs from 11:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public. It can also be viewed live online via streaming webcasts (details below). Besides the world class surf, the event also includes athlete meet and greets, product giveaways and complimentary hair styling on-site by Paul Mitchell.
